Los Angeles, California (May, 2008) Grifols S.A. announced today the launch of Biomat USA’s new interactive website.  Biomat USA is the principal provider of plasma to Instituto Grifols and one of the leading North American suppliers of plasma for fractionation.

The launch of the new website is aimed at providing information to potential donors on how important it is to have a consistent supply of human plasma.  Without the collection of human plasma from donors like those at Biomat USA plasma centers, patients across the country and around the world would suffer needlessly and die prematurely from otherwise treatable conditions.

“We are pleased with the growth of Biomat USA and feel that it is the perfect time to launch a new website to showcase our 59 centers,” said Shinji Wada President of Biomat USA.   “We created the new website with the donor in mind and in doing so have provided detailed information regarding the donation process, the importance of donating, and an interactive listing of the centers for potential donors to find centers in their area,” continued Wada. 

Plasma collected at Biomat USA plasma centers is used to produce therapies by Grifols such as intravenous immune globulin (IVIG) to treat primary immune deficiency, blood clotting factors to treat hemophilia and other bleeding disorders, and albumin, which is used for shock, trauma, and burns.  For these conditions and others, regular and life-long treatment with a plasma therapy is the only treatment option.
