Company History

Biomat USA was founded in 2002 and forms part of Grifols, a company with a long tradition dating back to 1940 in the production of plasma derived therapies and in the health/pharmaceutical sector.

2002

Biomat USA is created
In 2002 Grifols, SA, a world leader in the production of plasma derived therapies formed Biomat USA through the acquisition of one of the preeminent plasma collection companies in the US. This acquisition set Biomat USA on a course to be the world leader in the collection of plasma for the production of life-saving plasma derived therapies.

2005

Biomat USA Plasma Collections top 1 million liters
Through an aggressive growth strategy and with adherence to the highest quality standards, Biomat USA announced a new milestone in the collection of 1 million liters of plasma. This represents approximately 1.25 million donations of life giving plasma for the production of much needed plasma derived therapies.

2006

Biomat USA increases to 59 centers with acquisition of 8 new centers
Biomat USA integrated eight new plasma centers into the high quality standards and procedures already in place for the existing operations while expanding the overall plasma collection by more than 150,000 liters per year. This additional plasma has helped maintain a stable supply of life-saving plasma derived therapies for the chronically ill patients who rely on them.

Biomat USA Connects Patients and Donors
With each donation, Biomat USA donors help patients who suffer with life-threatening illnesses. In 2006 donors and employees went a step further and raised money to support the Immune Deficiency Foundation, a national patient organization that serves the needs of patients who rely on plasma derived therapies. 2007

Biomat USA Long Term Strategic Growth Plan
As part of its long term strategic growth plan to meet the increasing demand for plasma, Biomat USA has announced an aggressive time table for opening a significant number of new plasma centers and a plan to build an additional testing laboratory near Austin, Texas to complement its existing laboratory.
